$42 to lessen reliance on having to find and spend time at laundromats? This portable washing (or “warshing” as my grandmother would have pronounced it) seems like a no-brainer. We could do a small load once a day and probably keep up with clothes - and just find a laundromat every couple of weeks for bedding, etc.

In our experience (and in talking to a lot other RVers, some who even have installed RV size washer/dryers) - going to a laundromat totally rocks! In generally less than an hour, you can have 1-2 weeks of laundry done.. because you can do multiple loads at once. Many commercial RV parks and even some public ones (the county park we’re at now has one) have laundomats onsite, and they’re all over the place - we’ve never had a problem finding one when we need them. Some even offer arcades, cafes, music, dancing .. and many are open 24-hrs a day.
With a small washer, you’re doing the laundry all the time. Heck, sometimes even when we’re staying with folks who have household size washer/dryers we opt for the laundromat. Totally don’t miss wasting a day babysitting the washer/dryer and changing out loads.
Since you’d have to visit a laundromat every couple of weeks anyway for your bedding…
Of course, if you don’t have enough room to carry 1-2 weeks worth of clothing for everyone, that’s a different story.

Hmm…keep in mind we’ll be 4 of us..and the kids tend to go through clothes faster (and they can provide the labor power needed to work this..;)
Our other concern was just expense - what are you spending at laundromats for the 2 of you?
I also wondered how many parks would allow us to hang out wet clothes to dry - seems like we’ve been in some that didn’t want you doing that.

Honestly, haven’t been keeping track of our laundry expenses. It’s such a small expense, it hadn’t been worth tracking. We just keep a little container of quarters on board for tolls/laundry, do it when needed and refill with quarters when it gets low.
But heck.. if I had free labor on board, I’d totally put them to work too :) For us however, our time is worth far more than the few quarters here and there it takes to keep on track with our laundry.
