City of Rocks State Park

King(s) of the hill

King(s) of the hill

(A poem by Storybird and Data - each takes a line in a back and forth fashion.)

A cool place is called the City of Rocks
In New Mexico, a bunch of uncut blocks
Lots of prickly plants are there too
Watch out, or your pants will be poked through

You are allowed to climb on the rocks if you can
The wind up top is like a fan
Blowing your hair around (if you have any)
The chances of falling are quite many

The rocks are huge, a very tall bunch
It’s a great place to munch your lunch
The campground is nice, electric and water
There are bunnies around, I almost caught her!

If you’re near, this is the number one place to go
It’s up in the mountains, the elevation isn’t low
A 30 mile drive out of Deming
But not so long, by my remembering

So to wrap up this post, here’s our vote
When you go there, you don’t need a boat
Because it’s just too an awesome place
You have to see it face to face
