More on Our SLC Visit

Salt Palace at Night

Visitors My parents flew out to Salt Lake City to hang out with us for a week. We hadn’t seen each other since the Christmas holiday—it was really nice to catch up and enjoy some face to face time. We enjoyed a few outings together (baseball game, rodeo, Antelope Island, early birthday clothes shopping), but chose to mostly sit and enjoy each other’s company. There was a lot of talking,…   Read More >>

The Dropping of the Other Shoe

Home for a weekend while trailer is repaired

“I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop.” A few weeks ago a friend inquired how the truck and trailer were performing on the trip so far.  I replied that, other than a few naggling issues and routine maintenance both were doing fine.  So well so that I was “waiting for the other shoe to drop.” It’s a curious phrase, isn’t it?  I have never thought to investigate it…   Read More >>

A Visit with Grandpa and Grandma “A”

Grandparents visiting from Michigan

I couldn’t wait for Grandma and Grandpa “A” to meet up with us in Salt Lake City. In fact, that’s almost all I was thinking about from Cortez through Moab (when I wasn’t thinking about jeeping, that is). When the day finally came, the traveling felt like the longest travel day we’ve done yet, including driving home for Christmas (and that was longer than long). When we finally arrived at…   Read More >>

Y-y-y-ee-h-h-h-aaa!

Spellcheck people, Spellcheck!

The odd-ball to-do list (we refuse to call it a “bucket list” out of sheer societal non-conformity) got another tick mark this week.  In addition to a roller derby another event we wanted to go to was a rodeo.  It’s not that we consider rodeos that odd, they’re just something we never would have gone to if we were still living back in our stick & brick house in West…   Read More >>

$88 of Girly Unstoppableness

Pure. Girly. Unstoppability.

Yea, I’m making up words.  So shoot me. A couple of years ago MsBoyink and I, having been bike-less for a couple of years, thought to try and get back into riding a bit.  These moments are tough - do you spend a lot of money on a really nice bike hoping your investment will bring greater enjoyment (or greater guilt at potential non-use) and cause you to use it…   Read More >>

Canyonlands National Park

Heading into the park

It’s a good thing the first day of our Jeep rental was perfect, because the second day didn’t go as planned.  We knew we wanted less of a technical and bouncy route than our day on the Fins & Things trail, so chose to go to Canyonlands National Park and figured we’d ask about scenic unpaved roads there. We dropped the top to make the drive up (I really wanted…   Read More >>

Jeeping in Moab

On the way to Hurrah Pass in Moab, Utah

Perfect. Perfect? Perfect! That’s really the best word I can use to describe our big day of Jeeping in Moab, Utah. Just to backtrack a moment, if you are new to this site or not fully familiar with our whole backstory, I describe myself as a “Jeepless Jeeper”.  I’ve been around Jeeps since I was 9, owned them since I was 18, spent hundreds of hours working on them learning…   Read More >>

Arches National Park

Looking up at a rock arch in Arches National Park, Utah

While we came to Moab mainly for the Jeeping opportunities, Moab also sits just outside of both Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.  We watched the weather for an agreeable forecast and ended up with a perfect day to visit the Arches - the closer of the two. The temps were in the mid 70s, sunny and with just enough clouds to make the pictures look pretty.  We watched…   Read More >>
